In 1986, the Florida Legislature authorized the establishment of citizen support organizations for individual state parks and the Division of Recreation and Parks. There are currently 36 chartered citizen support organizations for Florida state parks. Friends of Florida State Parks, Inc. works to increase public awareness, raise private funds,and seeks grants from foundations to support enhancement programs and increase the public’s knowledge of the value of state parks through public information initiatives. It also provides advice and council to the division, concerning the future of Florida’s state parks. Please accept this special invitation to join the Friends of Florida State Parks, Inc., a statewide citizen support organization. This not-for-profit organization is a group of Florida citizens and visitors who have joined together with the Florida Park Service to enhance, protect, and promote Florida state parks.
     Friends of Florida State Parks, Inc. is working to increase public awareness and knowledge on the value of Florida's state parks to Floridians and visitors. Members will receive publications about state parks and have the opportunity to participate in special events and volunteer for special projects.
