ANNUAL GATHERING
The 2010
FPSAA Annual Gathering will be at O'Leno State Park on April 22
- 25. This year the FPSAA is honored to sponsor one of the
Florida Park Service's events to celebrate the 75th Anniversary
of the FPS. It will include a work day, a time capsule
burying and the annual meeting and auction. The work day
will involve repairing a bridge at O'Leno. The
annual meeting and auction will be held on Saturday (24th).

“Man-ta-bee”
Released from Blue Spring
Wayne
C. Hartley, Park Service Specialist, to be released after 34
years of dedicated service
Date
of Capture: March 10, 1975
Wayne
was found wandering aimlessly in Sears Roebuck, where he
appeared to be confused about his direction in life. His
capture went without incident and he was taken to Washington
Oaks Gardens for 4 years. While there Wayne attended the 7th
Ranger Academy. He was then transferred to Blue Spring,
and has remained there ever since. For enrichment purposes
and to enhance his socialization skills, Wayne has been allowed
to occasionally play with others through re-enactments with
Company F. Mobility and memory growth has been encouraged
over the years through extensively long periods paddling in a
canoe within Blue Spring Run while identifying individual
manatees by name.
Wayne
will be tracked in his future endeavors by the Save the Manatee
Club.
At
his time of release, Wayne will be 177.8 cm with no notable
scars.
