Presidents Message

Dear Fellow FPSAA Members,

It does not seem possible but the Florida Park Service Alumni Association will be 20 years old this year.   I believe we have just scratched the surface on what can be done through the benevolent efforts of the James Cook Memorial Relief Fund, through support of the state parks and through fun and fellowship with friends both old and new.

I recently met with Director Mike Bullock of the Florida Park Service.  Mike reported that despite earlier news reports of state parks having to close and the possible loss of many positions, this year’s final budget for state parks will allow all of the state parks to remain open with the loss of only a very few positions.   To help compensate for the tight budget this year I encourage each of you to volunteer to support the state parks that are in your local area.

One of the values of our organization is to have a time of visiting with fellow Florida Park Service members both active and retired.  I hope that all of you will join in the fellowship and fun that our organization provides.

Larry
